Amy Adams has "no
game" when it comes to playing it cool in front of Hollywood stars.
The 38-year-old actress has
starred alongside some of the world's biggest names, including Meryl Streep,
Philip Seymour Hoffman and Clint Eastwood. Despite her burgeoning success as
one of Hollywood's hottest talents, Amy often falls to pieces in front of her
famous counterparts.
“My characters are far more
interesting than I am,” she revealed in an interview with British newspaper The
Times, before recalling eating a meal with Gary Oldman at last year’s Toronto
Film Festival. “I just went, ‘Oh my gosh, I can’t believe I’m sitting here with
you. You’re so amazing!’ I can’t play it cool. I have no game.”
Amy has three-year-old Aviana
with her long-term partner Darren Le Gallo. The redheaded star's daughter has
changed her life "on a human level" and she feels more confident
taking on iconic film roles such as her most recent part of Lois Lane in the
new Superman reboot, Man of Steel.
"The audience is ready to
accept me in that role and I don’t have to force toughness into Lois. Plus, I
think it’s simply that I’m a lot more centred in my life right now. I’m
definitely more confident than I was when I first read a Superman script,"
she said.
“Having a child does that to
you. I’ve been with my man for 11 years; I’m surrounded by good people. So it
means that I’ve shed this desire to please people. I still have it, but it’s
not at the forefront of my thoughts.”
Amy is famed for her upbeat
nature, having taken on the role of Princess Giselle in Disney's 2007 film
Enchanted. The star never lets her manners slip.
“The thing is, for me, it’s
still important to do the right thing and to be polite,” she smiled. “It still
really bothers me if someone misperceives my behaviour as rude or dismissive. A
lot of this is personal choice. Some people are just born with it. I don’t
know, I think I just come from a long line of cheerful women.” (Source)
