Nicole Kidman, Jessica Chastain, and Others: Who Was Best Dressed at Cannes?

France and fashion are nearly synonymous, which means when the stars go to Cannes, they make sure to dress to impress. Whittling down the hundreds of gorgeous red carpet looks from the 12-day-long film festival is no small feat — especially when a slew of A-listers like Jessica Chastain and Nicole Kidman are in attendance — but then again, it wasn't terribly difficult. These four looks are luxurious, gorgeous, and, most important, memorable. (No dull LBDs or pedestrian prom dresses here!)
Kidman kicked off the festival on May 15 at the French premiere of The Great Gatsby in a sweet but chic strapless floral embroidered Christian Dior dress, pairing it with bright coral patent Dior pumps. The actress, attending this year as a jury member, would go on to walk the rouge carpet several more times during the festival in couture gowns, closing the fest on May 26 in a stunning custom Giorgio Armani bustier gown, but it was her first look that stood out.
Isla Fisher, who appears alongside Carey Mulligan and Leonardo DiCaprio in The Great Gatsby, was also a major standout at the premiere, which doubled as opening night of the festival. The actress wore a red strapless Oscar de la Renta gown and exquisite statement jewelry — a multi-colored necklace and a serpent watch, both from Bulgari Heritage. With her red hair worn down and loose, Sasha Baron Cohen's wife was the picture of unfussy glamour.
Five days later, Zoe Saldana hit the Blood Ties premiere in a dreamy gray sleeveless brocade gown from Valentino's Fall 2013 collection. David Yurman jewels in coordinating hues completed the understated yet super-stylish look.
And then there was Chastain, resplendent in a beaded custom Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci gown at the All Is Lost premiere on May 22. The sparkly and elaborately detailed dress needed no further embellishments: Chastain kept her makeup natural, her hair in a tousled ponytail, and her neck, ears and wrists free of any jewelry. Leonardo DiCaprio: Directing Would Lead To New 'Dimension Of Obsessiveness'

Leonardo DiCaprio isn't sure if he'll ever make the leap from actor to director.
"I've been talking about [directing] a lot," the actor told the June/July issue of GQ Australia, which features the star of "The Great Gatsby" on its cover. "But I'm still not sure I'm going to do it. When you're a director you have so many different elements you need to be in control of."
The actor explained he isn't sure he could handle the stress that comes with directing a feature film.
"I get very obsessive when I do movies and it encompasses my life," he continued. "And I don't know how I'd react to 200 different people asking me questions. I might spiral off into some other dimension of obsessiveness. For now, playing the character and being responsible for myself is what I'm doing."
But, Leo said, it could happen in the future.
"You never know," he added. "I might give it a try. Because it does seem fun." (Source)

Bidder pays $1.5M for space trip with Leonardo DiCaprio

One fan of Leonardo DiCaprio has paid 1.5 million dollars for a trip into space with the actor, during a charity auction at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the winning bidder will get the chance to travel into space orbit on a Virgin Galactic spaceship in a seat next to DiCaprio, Us magazine reported.
A portion of the proceeds from the auction will go toward the AmFAR Cinema Against AIDS charity.
A second pair of seats was also auctioned off on Thursday for a whopping 2.3 million dollars.
Initially, the trip was listed in the auction booklet as a "once-in-a-lifetime trip to space with a mystery guest," but Harvey Weinstein later revealed that the guest was DiCaprio himself. (Source)
