Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Md Sabur Khan on Thursday said that the DCCI would extend all-out support to the Setouchi International Art Festival 2013 in Japan, which will have ‘Bangladesh Project’ in its summer session to showcase the nation’s cultural heritage.
He said this to Japanese ambassador Shiro Sadoshima when the latter called on the DCCI president at his office in the city.
The Setouchi International Art Festival, one of the biggest art festivals in the world that will be held in the Kagwa Prefecture, is split in three sessions — spring, summer and autumn. The spring session has already started on March 20 while the summer one will start on July 20 and end on September 1.
The DCCI chief said they would take part in the festival to attract more foreign investors and tourists and increase business opportunities for the Bangladeshi entrepreneurs.
The DCCI president said that Bangladeshi cultural heritages will be showcased in the festival as the country’s noted painters, craftsmen and performers will display ‘jamdani, tribal textile, sheetal pati, pottery, naksheekantha, rickshaw, dhol, jute crafts, flute, wooden crafts etc’.
‘Besides, our traditional Lalon Giti, Rabindra Sangeet, Baul Songs and traditional dance will be presented,’ he added.
The 31-day autumn session will start on October 5. (Source)
