Blasphemy case filed against Imran, 7 others in Barisal



Eight bloggers, including Shahbagh protests convenor Imran H Sarkar, were prosecuted in Barisal on Monday on charge of blasphemy.
A lawyer, Sultan Ahmed Khan, also a leader of Bangladesh Nationalist Party-backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum, field the case with the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court under Sections 295A and 109 of the Penal Code.
The chief judicial magistrate in Barisal, Masudur Rahman, posted for Wednesday the pronouncement of the order in the case, said the plaintiff’s counsel Majibar Rahman Nantu, also a leader of the forum.
In the complaint, Sultan accused Imran, Asif Mohiuddin, Arifur Rahman, Omi Rahman Piyal, Arif Jebtik, Ibrahim Khalil, KM Mahdi Hasan and Biplab of blaspheming against Islam.
He stated that he lodged the case as the accused intentionally hurt religious sentiments of him and other Muslim by defaming the ideology of Islam, Prophet (SM), his family members and followers.
Imran is leading blasphemous activities, while his maternal grandfather was a collaborator of the Pakistani marauding military and was executed by freedom fighters, Sultan stated in his complaint. (Source)
