Mild to extreme heat waves are baking vast swathes of Bangladesh.
During an extreme heat wave, the temperature rises above 40C, during a moderate one it stays between 38-40C and it remains between 36-38C during a mild one.
In a statement, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said Rajshahi, Pabna, Chuadanga might continue experiencing the current extreme heat wave, while a mild to moderate heat wave is expected to prevail over Dhaka, Tangail, Faridpur, Madaripur, Maidzicourt, Srimangal, Barisal and Patuakhali along with parts of the Khulna Division for some more days.
An official of the meteorological department said the continuing heat wave may continue until Saturday (April 13). He said the mercury would gradually dip if rain follows.
The forecast said the seasonal low pressure was prevailing over the Bay of Bengal.
The Meteorological Office said during this month the northern and mid regions of Bangladesh might experience one or two extreme heat waves and another two or three mild to moderate heat waves might hit other parts of the country. (Source)
