FFs urge PM not to hesitate to ban Jamaat




Freedom fighters on Saturday urged the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, not to hesitate to ban Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir.
At a briefing at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, Amra Ekatturer Rananganer Muktijoddha, a platform of freedom fighters, also demanded immediate arrest and trial of all war criminals. Including about 10,000 war crime suspects, who had been arrested under the Collaborators Order 1972.
The organisation convenor SIM Nurunnabi Khan and joint convenors Mahbubur Rahman and Shib Narayan Das spoke at the briefing.
Prime minister’s advisor Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, former army chief Harun-ur-Rashid, freedom fighters Nayeem Jahangir, Akku Chowdhury and others attended the briefing.
Shib Narayan Das read out the written statement, saying that there was no need of any hesitation or doing any equation for banning Jamaat and Shibir.
The briefing was arranged in support of the ongoing Shahbagh protests demanding capital punishment for all war criminals and ban of Jamaat and Shibir. (Source)
