Without a publicist on her payroll,
Amanda Bynes is doing her own damage control. Less than 24 hours after the
actress was arrested in New York City, the 27-year-old denied any wrongdoing
via Twitter. Bynes was charged with marijuana possession, attempted evidence
tampering and reckless endangerment on Friday, May 24.
"I only smoke tobacco I
don't drink or do drugs," the Easy A star insisted, attempting to
discredit a police report that said she threw a bong out of her apartment
window. "I've never had a bong in my life! I need to get another nose job
after seeing my mugshot!" (Bynes first revealed she went under the knife
via Twitter May 5. "I had a nose
job to remove skin that was like a webbing in between my eyes," she
explained at the time.)
The former child star, who
wore a ratty platinum blonde wig to cover her shaved head in court, was once
again unhappy with her appearance. "I need Nicki Minaj's wig person
stat!" she told her 1.1 million followers May 24. (Though she wore the wig
in her booking photo, she was asked to remove it for her second mugshot.)
This isn't the first time
Bynes has used Twitter to address her legal troubles. After she was arrested
for allegedly driving while intoxicated and sideswiping a police car in April
2012, the All That star reached out to President Barack Obama for assistance.
"I don't drink. Please fire the cop who arrested me," Bynes asked the
nation's leader. "I also don't hit and run. The end." (Obama, 51,
never replied to the She's the Man star.)
When Bynes appeared in court
May 24, she was released without bail. Judge Neil Ross warned the California
native that if she gets arrested again, or fails to appear in court on July 9,
he is going to "set a significant bail." (Source)
