The local Awami League leader Shamim Osman once again denied allegations against him and his family members of any involvement in the killing of student Tanvir Mohammad Towki.
He threatened with legal procedure if the allegations were not withdrawn in public within 48 hours.
The former lawmaker at a press conference here produced his passport, claiming that he was staying abroad during the time when Towki went missing.
Shamim Osman for the second time denied the allegations against him raised by Towki’s family in public.
Tanvir Mohammad Towki, 17, an A-Level student of ABC International School in the district town went missing on March 6, and the police recovered his body on March 8 from a canal of the river Shitalakhya.
Towki’s father Rafiur Rabbi, also a cultural activist, however, countered the statement of Shamim Osman, saying no one needs to stay in the country for giving an instruction to do such a misdeed.
Narayanganj-4 constituency law maker Sharah Begum Kobori, City Corporation mayor and also Awami League local leader Selina Hayat Ivy and many others have also blamed Shamim Osman and his family members for the killing of Towki.
The press conference was organised under the banner of Shacheton Nagarik Samaj at Narayanganj Club Ltd, protesting a ‘conspiracy’ to divert Towki murder into another direction.
‘I want shelter from you [journalists]. The allegations against me are false and baseless,’ Shamim Osman told the newsmen.
He said that the police administration had so far failed to unearth the clue to the murder. (Source)
